feeds a crowd
8 ounces mayonaise
24 ounces sour cream
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup tomatillo salsa
1 handful of cilantro
3 ranch dressing packets
1/2 cup pickled jalapenos
Combine all ingredients in a blender; process until smooth.
Awhile back I had never eaten at a Chuy's Mexican food restaurant, but had heard the jalapeno ranch dip there was very good. Then I tried a friend's homemade version and loved it! When our new Chuy's opened here in town, I couldn't wait to go and try the jalapeno dip. Guess what?? I thought my friend's was better! :-) This is her recipe. I've made it twice now, and to scale it down a bit to serve just our family, I used 1 packet of ranch, 1/4 cup jalapenos and 1/4 of the other listed ingredients.

oh wow, that looks super tasty. Love the combination of the buttermilk/ranch and the jalapenos. It sounds divine.

Sounds delish, cant wait to try it. My husband loves anything with Ranch & Jalapenos.
ReplyDeleteAAAAH!!! I don't think I needed to know about this? Wait...yes I did. THANK YOU!! We love this sauce and it's FREE!!!! We get it instead of queso when we can't afford the queso. :) (You know it was originally just a sauce for some of their dishes, like the baja tacos and then people started ordering it as a dip??)
ReplyDeleteI found you through Gooseberry Patch recipe Round up. I've really enjoyed reading your blog and the recipes that you have shared!

It looks yummy and creamy. I love ranch and buttermilk...it's a wonderful combination. My husband loves jalapenos with cheddar dipped in ranch...wonder how this will compare. :) Love your blog.

ReplyDeleteHi this sounds yummie and I want to make it for a party. What brand of tomatillo salsa did you use, because some are better than others and also did you use the ranch packets that call for buttermilk or milk? Thanks
ReplyDeleteJust made my second batch of this dip and it is so good I could drink it. I figured that I owed you a Thank You!
ReplyDeleteThe dip looks wonderful
ReplyDeleteWhere do I get tomatillo salsa?
ReplyDeleteI am a Chuy's Jalepeno dip fanatic. I go and buy it at the restaurant for special occasions. NO MORE! This is absolutely delicious. Tastes as good as Chuy's, if not better. I made it "Light" by using light mayo, sour cream and low fat buttermilk. No one even thought it was "light". Everyone raved about it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Chuy's! I go every time I am in Texas. Made this dip for Superbowl Sunday and it is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteThis recipe was amazing! I had a lot left over though so I decided to add the extra buttermilk I had (about 1/2 cup) and marinade some chicken in it! I chopped up an onion and tossed in the marinade as well. I then baked the chicken and onions and it's one of the best things I've ever made! Such a good use for the extra dip since there's so much of it!
ReplyDeleteI made this yesterday, it was a hit, everyone liked it better than Chuy's, I thought it was close but to much ranch, I wish I would have started with one or two packets of the ranch instead of doing three. Definitely will make again. Thank YOU!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. So yummy and delish. I made the big batch and shared some with family members so everyone could enjoy :-)
ReplyDeleteI made this recently... seriously, BEST DIP EVER! taste just like Chuy's version, and in my opinion it could be better! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I have been looking for a good recipe and finally I found it!! THANK YOU!
