Mr. H. Builds the Chicken Coop

Construction on the chicken coop has begun!

Mr. H. has built many things over the years. He built an office in the backyard of our first home and a few years after that he closed in the garage to make a third bedroom.

He helped construct a two story, two room cabin at his family's ranch.

Watching the construction always fascinates me!

And this latest project, a hen house and yard,
is a labor of love just for me.

He has done his research and planned the cutest little home for my future flock.

The first day's construction started with the middle of the house. The part with the door for me and the area that I will walk into. The house will extend on each side. The perches on the right and the nesting boxes on the left. The area below the extensions will provide shade for part of the yard.

I got to help 'raise' this back wall. ;-)

He has thought of every detail.

He explained to me that his little notch was cut out so when I lean over into the box I wouldn't get scraped by the wood sticking out.

:-)

Sweet, sweet

summertime! :-)

A neighborly welcome...

...from the folks behind us.

School's Out for Summer! :-)

There's a time in each year that we always hold dear,
Good old summertime!
With the birds and the trees and sweet scented breezes,
Good old summertime!

When your day's work is over, then you are in clover,
And life is one beautiful rhyme,
No trouble annoying, each one is enjoying,
The good old summertime!

Those are days full of pleasure we now fondly treasure
When we never thought it a crime
To go stealing cherries with face brown as berries
In the good old summer time!
