1st Day of Summer Traditions

Today was the 1st day of summer at
Heritage Schoolhouse!

Since my eldest was in kindergarten
we've gone out to eat doughnuts for breakfast
on the first day of summer.

We also visit Hobby Lobby
so the children can choose
a new activity to work on.

We stop by the library
and pick out books and movies
and Library Reading Program charts.

Sometimes a visit to Wal-Mart is in order
for necessary pool supplies.

Then it's home for lunch,

and lots and lots of afternoon swimming!

Summer has arrived! :-)

Congrats!! We have a weird summer around here this year. Brandon doesn't finish his homeschool for another 2 weeks!! One of his sisters was done yesterday and his other sister has her last day today. All I know is I am ready for the pool, yipee!!!

Have fun,

Jennifer

Congratulations! How fun! It sounds like the perfect beginning for Summer :) I love the idea of taking the children to Hobby Lobby to find a project and then the Library; two of my favorite places to go :)

Have a blessed weekend Mrs. H.!

PS The cookie recipe looks great and I have some Pecans to start using. Hmmm :)

Hi Mrs. H! My name is Jennifer, and I came across your blog a few days ago. I thought I would let you know that EVERYTHING you cook looks delicious! Also, I've been trying to plan out my meals lately, and every meal I'm going to make next week is from your blog! I have a question for you: I noticed in some of your pictures you have cut up red potatoes with spices on them. How do you cook them? (I'm recently married and new to all of this. ) They look so yummy! Thanks so much!

Oh. My. Goodness! We LOVE Shipley's doughnuts!!!! My neighbor/best friend/most wonderful human being on Earth is from Hendersonville, TN. We go "home" with her on occasion and our breakfast is ALWAYS Shipley's. We have similar doughnuts here - Krispy Kreme - but they are not as good I don't think (and I was born and raised here!).

Have a wonderful Summer. We are just beginning ours, too. Of course, it has felt like Summertime for a while now.

Love traditions! Whoop!

I wondered what crafts you guys were doing this summer. I have the urge to make something with mosaic tiles. J wants to make candles. And B wants to paint with acrylics---get her LTC project done early, we hope.
