Quick Cinnamon Biscuits

Need cinnamon rolls?

Need them quickly?

Try this!

Quick Cinnamon Biscuits
1 dozen

2 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 to 2 teaspoons cinnamon
cinnamon/sugar for topping
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk

Blend dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add milk. Roll out and spread with butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Roll up and slice. Place in two, round greased baking pans. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake at 450° for 15 minutes. Blend sugar and milk for glaze and pour over warm biscuits. Enjoy!

This was just what I needed this morning. Cinnamon roll goodness...quickly. I've used this recipe for several years. The idea came from the "blog of all blogs", my very most favorite Pleasant View Schoolhouse. You can find the original post here. Enjoy! :-)

We are a cinnamon roll family, here. But I've never made them from scratch! Thanks for the idea and recipe! I'll have to go look at pleasant view schoolhouse, too!

Kristy - If you've never made yeast cinnamon rolls you might want to try the Overnight Cinnamon Rolls listed in the Recipes - Breakfast category. You do all of the work the night before and then pop them in the oven the next morning! :-)

Jennifer - You're welcome for the easy recipe. It really hits the spot without a lot of effort!

made these last week. WOW! Maybe I'll never make "real" cinnamon rolls again. They were very popular to say the least.

Loving this recipe because it doesn't contain the word that scares me so much...yeast. These would be perfect for Sunday morning breakfast. Thanks for sharing on A Well-Seasoned Life's Sweet Indulgences Sunday.

So these are in the oven right now... Have to admit I added some flax to give it some nutritional value! Perfect for when I didn't plan ahead. I'm sure my little girl is going to love these! Thank you!
