Cheese Quick Bread

Cheese Quick Bread
1 loaf, 8 servings

  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg

  • Combine flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, sugar, and cheese.  Whisk milk, oil and egg. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. Enjoy!
This bread is just perfect for evenings when you need that "homemade bread" goodness, but you just don't have a lot of time or haven't started soon enough for a yeast bread.  The leftovers are perfect to go with a bowl of  tomato soup for the next day's lunch.
