Calzone Rolls

Calzone Rolls
2 dozen

1 2/3 cups warm water
2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons shortening
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
4 1/2 cups flour
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/3 cup pizza sauce
1/2 cup diced pepperoni
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded pizza cheese blend
1/4 cup chopped ripe olives
2 tablespoons fresh grated parmesan cheese

In bread machine pan, place the first seven ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select dough setting. Saute the onion, mushrooms and peppers in oil until tender; cool. When bread machine cycle is completed, turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half. Let rest for 5 minutes. Roll each portion into a 16 inch x 10 inch rectangle; spread with pizza sauce. Top with the onion mixture, pepperoni, pizza cheese and olives. Roll up each rectangle jelly-roll style, starting with a long side; pinch seam to seal. Cut each into 12 slices. (Use slicing tip I mention here!) Place slices cut side down in two greased 9 inch round baking pans. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. Bake at 375° for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm and enjoy!

Hi! I can't remember how I found your blog, but it was through another blog. Let me just say that I LOVE visiting here! Your recipes are wonderful and your posts inspire me.

I have one question - where do you find oat bran? I want to make the honey oat muffins (my girls LOVE oatmeal and muffins). Do you get it at your grocery store, or the health food store? I have bought oat bran cereal, but not oat bran itself. You can email me at elfmom (at) gmail (dot) com, or just leave a comment on my blog (or yours). Thanks in advance.

I will be checking in every day, although I may not comment. Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend.

Hi Gena,

I'm so glad you like to visit here, and I really appreciate you letting me know! :-)

You can ususally find oat bran on the same aisle as the oatmeal. At my grocery the oat bran is above the oatmeal with the other hot cereals, like cream of wheat and malt 'o meal. It is in a small cereal type box with a pouring spout like malt 'o meal comes in. The oat bran itself will look like wheat germ. I buy the store brand. Please let me know if you find it and I really hope you enjoy the muffins. They are one of my sons favorites. :-)

You have a good Memorial Day, too!

Oh my goodness. Calzones must be in the air. I made some on Wednesday but I used Sandra Lee's Money Saving Meals Calzone recipe. It was pretty good!! AND CHEAP. Yours looked just yummy, as always everything you create looks and tastes delish.
