Taco Soup!
Yesterday I was just craving taco soup. Not the chicken tortilla kind I usually make, but a more tomato based variety. I tried this recipe and it was very good! After looking at a few more recipes at Jamie Cooks It Up, I think I'll be trying several in the near future! I saw a lot that sure looked good. :-)

A tentative Thanksgiving dinner menu plan. Of course I have full rights and privileges to change the menu at any time...because I'm the cook! ;-) I'm hosting this year for my side of the family. Hoping to make homemade cranberry sauce for the first time and also would like to try my hand at homemade dressing.

Cheese Quick Bread
1 loaf, 8 servings
- 3 cups flour
- 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, sugar, and cheese. Whisk milk, oil and egg. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. Enjoy!
This bread is just perfect for evenings when you need that "homemade bread" goodness, but you just don't have a lot of time or haven't started soon enough for a yeast bread. The leftovers are perfect to go with a bowl of tomato soup for the next day's lunch.
