For Kelli's Show and Tell Friday this week I am sharing my favorite book from childhood, Little Mommy. I can still quote many of the pages. ;-) My mom brought me a copy when she recently came for a visit. I would like to share the sweet pictures and words with you today. I hope you enjoy!
written and illustrated by Sharon Kane
a Little Golden Book published in 1967
This is my house and I am the mommy,
My children are Annabell, Betsy and Bonny.
They are good little children and do just as I say.
I put on their coats and they go out to play.
Billy is Daddy; he works in the city.
He has a new car. Isn't it pretty?
I do the dishes and sweep the floor.
And wipe the finger prints off the door.
I wash the clothes in my washing machine.
I scrub them with soap and rinse them clean.
Then I hang them on the line to dry.
I'll have to iron them bye and bye.

They sit in the buggy side by side.
And who can count to ten for me?
Oh dear! I'm afraid Betsy is ill!
I put her to bed and give her a pill.
I'll make some cookies and ginger cake.
We have a party by the cherry tree.
Oh dear! I'm afraid Betsy is ill!
I put her to bed and give her a pill.
I call on the phone for Doctor Dan.
He says he'll come as soon as he can.
He takes her temperature and says, "Don't worry."
"She'll be well as quick as a wink.
It's just the mumbledy bumps, I think."
Put on your bibs and sit up straight!
We're having potatoes and blueberry stew.
Now eat your spinach, it's good for you.
Sit on my lap,
it's story time.
I'll read a poem
and a nursery rhyme.
I scrub their necks and wash their ears.
and sing them a song
And they'll be asleep
before very long.
Good night, dollies, I'm sleepy too.
You can visit Kelli for more Show and Tell Friday. And, please let me know if you remember Little Mommy from your childhood, too! :-)

What an sweet little book! The pictures are precious. I will have to try to find that one for my little granddaughters!
Thanks for sharing.
Blessings!
I love the Little Golden Books! My Mom kept them all from our childhood and has them at her house. She said she was saving them for her grandbabies when they came over. I don't think we have that book, but it triggered plenty of memories. Thanks for sharing.
Unfortunately I don't remember that book from my childhood, but I recently came across it at Wal-Mart, of all places. AFter thumbing through and LOVING the illustrations, I purchased a copy for my 2 little girls. One of my littles ones in particular is such a "little mommy" and just adores the new book. So sweet.
Yep, I do remember it! What a blessing that you can give it to your daughter.

What a sweet little book. I love the pictures! I used to read Little Golden Books when I was young, as did my daughters when they were young. I always loved the books illustrated by Eloise Wilkin.
I don't remember that one, but I love the Little Golden Books!
They were all over my childhood:)
Thanks so much for sharing this sweet story!!

It is not a book I know but it is gorgeous
The illustrations are beautiful
I was a Golden Book girl, but I never read that one. My favorite, which was similar in theme, was, Baby Dear. LIttle Mommy was sweet. Isn't it wonderful to see that you are doing these things today. I love being a mommy!
Yes I remember those books - My favorite one that I have stored but do not remember the name has a little girl just like that one with a baby in a buggy on the cover. Brings back a lot of childhood memories! Thanks for sharing! Karyl(Carol)
What a precious story. Little girls today would think it is science fiction or something. It would be so foreign to many of them.
I had many Little Golden Books, but don't remeber this one. The illustrations are soo sweet.
Have a blessed Sunday!
This was my favorite book, too! I still have a copy from when I was little but it doesn't look as good as yours... I loved how she so sweetly tucked her babies in bed at night and bathed them. So precious! Lori
I love this book! And I remember my little girl had one...it was her favorite story.
Blessings,
Susie
That book rocks! As your friend I am putting you on mission to find a copy for this house full of girls! Seriously, let me know the particulars so I can start the hunt!
