"The real things haven't changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong." ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder
Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea winds blowin' I still see her dark eyes glowin' She was 21 when I left Galveston
Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea waves crashing While I watch the cannons flashing I clean my gun and dream of Galveston
by Glen Campbell
I still see her standing by the water Standing there lookin' out to sea And is she waiting there for me? On the beach where we used to run
Galveston, oh Galveston, I am so afraid of dying Before I dry the tears she's crying Before I watch your sea birds flying in the sun At Galveston, at Galveston
No, I don't know, but I just saw a news story on Galveston this week on how well they were coming back from the hurricane last year. The beach and sky look beautiful!
Oh Mrs.H!!!!! This post is bitter sweet. I spent 4 summers going to Galveston with my family when I was just a little girl. I was blessed with the chance to return with my children and husband back for a vist 5 years ago. I loved it. I miss it!!! :(
Yes!!! I remember listening to that song by Glen Campbell on the radio and singing my heart out. :) Thank you ,thank you for this post!!
Yep, the old 80's country song!!! My mother is in Galveston for a wedding right now....kewl, I wonder if you passed each other. She has her motorcoach and is at a campground by the beach. She said there is still a lot of devastation though. It looks like you had a great trip!!!
I still enjoy listening to Glen Campbell...although my children totally don't 'get it'! It's a throw-back from my little girl days. LOL I have also spent a lot of time reading books about and researching the 1900 Galveston flood for some writing projects I have in mind--fascinating, but oh so sad! I was thinking of the two ways to say Gavleston. Some say Gal-ves-tun, dragging it out reeeeal country like. :) I haven't been on to visit your blog in a while. I've been pretty terrible about keeping up with others and my own blog. We're almost finished with the house and hopefully I'll get back on the wagon. I loved the beach pictures. I hope Lauren got some too. I love those chunky thighs on my baby girl! they're almost gone now. :(...On Gavin too.

Um, I associated it with Oh Christmas Tree, oh Christmas tree.
Which is probably wrong and you are laughing at me right now.
Looks like a beautiful day at the beach, lucky duck.

I immediately thought it was a song, but I really can't remember the words or who sung it. So I could be completely wrong!
Oh, I immediately heard Glen Campbell singing it in my head! Now its stuck there...... :-)

Had a great time in Galveston! Glad the pictures brought back memories. :-)
I knew Giggles would get the song reference. ;-) It's in my playlist now.
Hi Tara! I know you must be very busy. I have been watching the progress on the house - so exciting! I'm very happy for y'all. :-)
