In New Braunfels

After floating on the Comal River,
we stopped for a treat

at the oldest bakery in Texas.

Naegelin's since 1868!

Introducing...

Tammy Wynette
a White Plymouth Rock

Loretta Lynn
a Barred Plymouth Rock

Emmy Lou Harris
a New Hampshire Red

Dolly Parton
a Buff Orpington

and Patsy Cline
a Rhode Island Red

They are very glad to meet you!

They're Here! :-)

Five little chicks hatched yesterday,
and arrived at my local post office at 11:30 this morning!
I showed them how to get some water and food.

They were quick learners!

They are so very fun to watch!

My to-do list, didn't get done today! ;-)

That's ok though.

They're only a day old once!

The Chick Brooder

I've been getting things ready
for the chicks to arrive!

fresh water

starter feed

pine shavings in the brooder box

And Mr. H. hung the heat lamp.

He spent lots of time getting
the level just right for the chicks.
They need the temperature in the brooder to be 95 degrees
for the first week.
After that we will raise the lamp each week
to lower the temperature 5 degrees.

Now all that's left is to wait for the post office to call! :-)

Sweet Gift

Love this rooster and hen bowl!
A housewarming gift from a sweet sister-in-law.

She also gave me this precious little stuffed hen.
I paired it with my egg sign. :-)
