Our Favorite Popcorn Balls
1 dozen

1 cup popcorn, popped (or 2 bags microwave popcorn, popped)
1 cup white sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 small box orange jell-O

Place popcorn in a large bowl. In a saucepan, mix corn syrup, sugar and jell-O; bring to a rolling boil. Pour over popcorn. Carefully stir to mix well and when cool enough to handle, form into balls with well buttered hands.

These are fun for other holidays, too! Use green jello at Christmas, red for Valentine's Day...

I had no idea you could use Jell-O to color the popcorn balls! Thanks for posting!

these look delightful! I've admired the recipe for overnight cinnamon rolls that you posted a few weeks ago. I am currently working on a free downloadable E-Book for our soon to be up and running website Econobusters.com. I'd like to include a link to your blog, and to the recipe for these rolls. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at ejoyce(at)thehomeschoolmagazine(dot)com. Thanks! Eleanor Joyce, Marketing Editor, The Old Schoolhouse Magazine

This may be a dumb question, but doesn't the jello make the popcorn balls taste fruity? Is that a good taste? They look great. I think I need to try these. Keep sharing---I love it!

Bell,
Yes, they have a sweet, slightly orange-y taste and they are so yummy! My daughter loves them and requests them every year! :-)

Mrs. H,
What kind of microwave popcorn do you use. I used it one year to make popcorn balls and they didn't come out too good. Someone told me it was because I used popcorn with butter. I would love to make these since I already know they taste great. :) Thanks for sharing your recipe.
